Summary

The Data Scientist will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of operations data, and help us make smarter decisions to increase efficiency in our Operations organization. The primary focus of the role will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems. This role will lead data discovery and data innovation and help build industry leading advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to drive business value at scale.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create sophisticated mathematical models to help predict outcomes
  • Identify new data sources and evaluate emerging technologies and analytic trends for data discovery and visualization
  • Drive Consumers Energy s overall advanced analytics and AI vision and operational excellence roadmap
  • Clearly communicate analytics solutions and insights to stakeholders and translators to ensure they can create value from those insights

Requirements/ Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in field of Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Operations Research OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5
    years of practical business experience will help ensure the candidate has the proper foundation for success.
  • Must be willing to serve in a storm role. This includes an on-call schedule, the ability to work up to 16 hour shifts including nights, weekends and holidays sometimes with limited notice.

Hours and Travel

  • This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 90% of time spent in the office/remote and up to 10% travel within our service territory (e.g., service centers, specific field locations) for outdoor field observation. Work locations may vary based on storm impact (Home, Jackson, Grand Rapids, Saginaw).
  • Working outside of normal work hours during storm or emergency restoration during anytime of the day, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime is required.
  • Able to work up to 16 hours in a 24-hour period.

Must possess a valid driver s license. Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours at assigned worksite. Meet travel requirements of the position. Work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.

This position will be remote/virtual until it s deemed safe to return to the office. At that time, the selected candidate may choose to remain virtual or sit in an office/service center across the state of Michigan.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
