Summary

This position is responsible for providing direct oversight and execution of the Company s Gas Operations Qualification (OQ) program and Joint Gas Operations Certification Committee (JGOCC) teams.
The OQ program is a Federally regulated and mandated compliance program which requires the annual testing and certification of knowledge, skills, and abilities for all Gas employees working on a pipeline facility.
The JGOCC is one of the largest single joint committees comprised of Company and Union representatives who manage the adherence of the contractual training/certification program including the testing & oversight of 300
field employees who are participating at any given time in the program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct JGOCC work plan and responsibilities
  • Oversee the internal and external contractor OQ programs to ensure compliance with federal requirements
  • Problem solving, continuous improvement, and executing management action plans
  • Support implementation of Gas Safety Management System (GSMS)
  • Lead and coordinate Federal and State MPS internal inspection protocol review and lead and participate in industry OQ related committees
  • Take lead role in partnering with regulatory compliance and gas operations leaders to maintain a written qualification program for individuals performing covered tasks on pipeline and distribution facilities
  • Management of OQ program and development of risk controls reputational risk avoidance
  • Serve as primary liaison to the MPSC for OQ related issues and present at several regulatory meetings annually, as needed

Requirements/ Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in engineering, business, management, or technical field; or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 7
    years of work experience in Gas Pipeline Operations
  • Extensive knowledge of Gas Code and Federal OQ Rule (49 CFR 192, Subpart N)

Hours and Travel

This position requires the individual work 40-50 hours per week with 80% of time spent in the office or specific field locations.
This position may require the ability to travel between field locations.
This position may include nights and weekend/holiday timeframes.

This position will be remote/virtual until it s deemed safe to return to the office.
At that time, the selected candidate may choose to remain virtual or sit in an office/service center across the state of Michigan.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
