The Hasbro Transformers development team is seeking an Associate Project Engineer!

In this position you will be working on a franchise brand, responsible for driving the engineering development of toy products, ensuring adherence to product performance, cost, quality, and schedule while managing risk. Utilizing solid communication, problem solving, engineering and computer skills, you will function as the engineering lead from initial concept through production start and manufacturing development. You will collaborate with diverse multi-functional teams at our Rhode Island headquarters and will communicate with product development partners in Hong Kong, China, and Japan. You will actively participate and add value to the product development process by identifying and implementing innovative methods and solutions that will deliver on product objectives by providing the most cost-effective engineering direction. You will be actively involved in defining the initial product, developing and defining product specifications, negotiating and leading cost, and you will participate in the decision-making process throughout the product development cycle.

A Day in the Life:

Independently manage the overall project and technical development efforts of multiple products ensuring performance, quality, cost and schedule adherence.

  • Perform technical feasibility assessment on new product concepts.
  • Manage the engineering manufacturability and function of new parts and products.
  • Collaborate with development team, including Design, Marketing, Packaging, and various technical support groups.
  • Lead communication with internal and external cross-functional teams, including overseas development counterparts and manufacturing vendors, on all product engineering related topics.
  • You will estimate product costs, evaluate vendor quotes, recommend options for cost reductions, and drive team to cost decisions.
  • You will evaluate samples throughout each stage and review with the team to quickly turn around comments for improvement back to our overseas partners.
  • You will work closely with our Japanese business partners TakaraTomy in development, costing, and production of each toy, managing the relationship as well as the product function and cost.
  • You will be able to anticipate, analyze, resolve and know when to raise project issues.
  • Actively seek ways to continually improve design and manufacturing efficiencies while meeting or exceeding established industry quality standards.

What you will bring:

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 1-3 years of demonstrated ability working in the toy and/or consumer goods industry preferred (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of CAD (Solid works preferred) to review and analyze product designs and develop functional prototypes when necessary.
  • Knowledge of injection molded manufacturing techniques.
  • Understanding of product design principles and ability to make decisions based on financial indicators.
  • An open mind and willingness to stretch your engineering skills and learn from other experienced team members.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles and methods.
  • Project management and an understanding of the development timelines a plus.
  • Basic understanding of 3D printing or other rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Prior experience with Asian vendors a plus.
  • Ability to interpret safety and reliability standards and guide the team accordingly.
  • Ability to assess, communicate and mitigate technical risks.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and/or translate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to collaborate with and effectively influence cross-functional teams in the US and globally.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional organization, interpersonal and communication skills.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
