Gerdau is currently seeking an Improvement Engineer for its Jackson, Michigan facility.

Responsibilities:
The major role of the Improvement Engineer is to lead plant improvement activities for new and existing systems and processes. The Improvement Engineer manages the material manufacturing process to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all improvement aspects within designated area of responsibility. The Improvement Engineer trains employees on the operation and maintenance of new and existing equipment and procedures. This role also works closely with customers and collaborates with other functional areas such as product metallurgy and inside sales to ensure product conformance with all testing requirements. The Improvement Engineer participates in capital expenditure projects, 5S, failure analysis, six sigma and other process improvement initiatives along with other assigned duties.


Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science (Metallurgy) or related field
3 years in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods required
Knowledge of steel manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy mill machinery and related equipment preferred
