3 Jackson, MI Jackson, MI Full-time Full-time $18 an hour $18 an hour 7 days ago 7 days ago 7 days ago PUBLIC HOUSING SPECIALIST(prior work experience in office environment or clerical field) The Jackson Housing Commission (JHC) located in Jackson, Michigan is seeking highly motivated and customer service oriented applicants for the position of PUBLIC HOUSING SPECIALIST.
The JHC manages 540 public housing units.
The successful candidate is responsible for scheduling and conducting eligibility interviews with applicants, processing verification requests from third party vendors, as well as assessing family income, assets, and other factors determining eligibility.
The Public Housing Specialist also accesses YARDI software to calculate total rent payments and conducts time sensitive recertification interviews with program participants and is responsible for maintaining confidential program files subject to continuous audit.
This position handles inquiries from clients and the general public, assists with scheduling move-ins/move-outs, and submits maintenance work orders.
Excellent customer service skills a must.
The Public Housing Specialist provides support to the site Housing Manager by completing clerical tasks such as filing, typing, answering telephones, and computer data entry.
Therefore the ability to accurately perform duties with consistency, sound judgment, tact, patience, and meet monthly deadlines is a must.
An Associates or Bachelor's degree in the Social Services from an accredited educational institution with a minimum of one year of housing or leasing experience is preferred.
Two years prior office/clerical experience is required.
In addition, a valid Michigan driver's license and proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel is required.
