72 an hour 2 days ago 2 days ago 2 days ago This position falls under the Personal and Preventative Health Services Division/Women, Infants, Children (WIC) Programs and performs a variety of clerical, clinical, and general administrative tasks.
Serves as receptionist by assisting visitors and callers with information on department services.
The hourly rate increases to $17.
72 on January 1, 2024.

In addition to performing a variety of clerical, clinical, and general administrative tasks in support of departmental and divisional staff and programs, may assist with other specific department/division related projects and programs as assigned.
Non-traditional clerical/administrative duties include standardized laboratory tests including hemoglobin and lead screenings; cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment; maintains quality control of laboratory equipment; cleans labs and clinic areas including disinfecting toys and furniture and vacuuming and mopping floors; provides classroom support; abides by HIPAA confidentiality requirements; serves as mandated reporter of suspected child abuse and neglect under the MDHHS, Children's Protective Services, and Child Protection Law.
Completes basic incident command system, Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) courses and supports agency public health preparedness and emergency response efforts.
Responds to public health emergencies in the community in coordination with and under the direction of the Health Officer or other key department management personnel.
May be selected to receive training in a primary, secondary, or tertiary Incident Command System role to support department public health preparedness and emergency response efforts.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school graduation or equivalent.
Some college level experience preferred.
Experience:
Two to three years' experience in a secretarial or administrative office capacity.
Experience working with children of all ages such as that gained in a day care/pre-school, elementary, middle or high school setting.
Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic medical records preferred.
Other Requirements:
Depending on specific department/division assignment, may require one or more of the following:
Valid Michigan Drivers' License or other division specific certifications.
Relevant Skills/Specialized Equipment Knowledge:
Use of basic office equipment Computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, database entry and maintenance, financial applications, GIS/mapping, desktop publishing, and specialized software such as electronic medical records and other systems.
Ability to use specialized technical equipment such as Hemocue machines, Lead Care II machines, digital scales and stature/recumbent boards.
Ability to pass lab competency tests for hemoglobin and lead screening annually.
Ability to exercise excellent customer service skills.
Full Time, Non-Exempt; Weekday Schedule This is a non-exempt bargaining unit position with AFSCME Pay Grade D, offering excellent benefits, including investment plan options, PTO accrual and paid holidays upon hire!
