Summary:
The Assistant Director of Instruction supports local districts and coordinates the work of JCISD Education Consultants to enhance various continuous school improvement and curriculum initiatives in and around Jackson County.
Using a variety of research-based and evidence-based methods the Assistant Director develops and coordinates JCISD staff in providing professional learning opportunities to increase student achievement, teacher and administrator learning, and countywide growth.
The Assistant Director assesses, organizes, analyzes and coordinates data from other JCISD content consultants, students, teachers, administrators and other lenses to embed a meaningful data culture into school improvement and curriculum work.
Both academic and non-academic curricular work is also a major focus of the Assistant Director's work.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Learning Services.
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following:

) Supervise members of the JCISD Learning Services Department in the absence of the Director of Learning Services.
Coordinate, lead and support consultants as they support local school districts in developing quality and meaningful goals and programs in coordination with the districts' school improvement and professional development processes.
Coordinate JCISD consultants as they lead local districts in implementing and evaluating these programs.
Ensure our local districts and school buildings understand their responsibilities and have the tools to be in compliance with all School Improvement mandates and expectations from the state of Michigan.
Take initiative to be current or cutting edge on curriculum, instruction and school improvement processes, procedures, research, and best practices.
Coordinate, lead, present and facilitate processes for curricula shifts, enhanced quality instruction and data driven decision-making with a variety of stakeholders including but not limited to superintendents, administrators, teachers, community organizations and more.
Sustain and enhance the use of quality data practices through application of qualitative and quantitative methods.
Support shifts in administrator and teacher practices based on the data with adult learners.
Monitor and support internal and external evaluation practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs.
Collaborate with special education and technology for program implementations.
Use statistical data in interpreting, designing and implementing district and building evaluation programs.
Respond to other requests by local school districts and takes up other duties as assigned by the Director of Learning Services.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
