Project Technical Specialist (Electrical Engineer)

Description GAI Consultants is currently seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Lisle, IL, or Jackson, MI office.
It would be beneficial for the successful candidate to have familiarity with substation design and relevant engineering internship or co-op work experience.
Responsibilities:
Perform detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage substations and switchyardsDevelop and/or revise existing drawings for one line, physical arrangement, electrical schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, grounding, conduit and wire schedules, bill of materials, site development, battery sizing, and equipment layout, including coordinating with CAD operators to develop organized, quality CAD drawingsIntegrate physical layout and design of substations to interface with protection and control drawings or vice versaDevelop control and relay panel layouts including assembling the specificationsCreate project criteriaDevelop design specifications including the overall bill of materialsDesign and size auxiliary systems including AC/DC load centers as well as batteries and chargersDesign and size conduit, cable, and backup generatorsTravel to client and vendor offices for design reviewsTravel to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designsAssist with the technical development of the scope of services and cost estimates for substation and P&C projectsRequired Skills and
Experience:
Bachelor's (B.
S.
) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program with a strong academic background and coursework in electrical power concepts/AC power systems analysisStrong communication skills, including written and oral communication skills, in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelDetail-oriented and able to demonstrate professionalism at all times, with a Client First approach to all interactionsAbility to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and possess strong time management skills.
Proficient with MS Office applicationsDesired Skills and
Experience:
