Project EIT (Engineer-In-Training)

Description GAI is seeking a project engineer-in-training to join our Power Delivery team.
Required skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, team focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems.
This position is expected to have work performed onsite from one of the following locations:
Chicago, IL; Fort Wayne, IN; Houston, TX; Indianapolis, IN; Jackson, MI; Kansas City, KS; Pittsburgh, PA; Orlando, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; or Tampa, FL.
The successful candidate will be eligible for a GAI sign-on bonus.
As a GAI project engineer-in-training, this position is responsible for assisting a team of engineers and project managers with transmission line designs.
This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.
Job Duties:
Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery.
Tasks may include:
Preparation of Specification PackagesPreparation of Structural and Fabrication DrawingsDesign and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TowerDesign and Analysis of foundations.
Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications.
Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings.
Apply engineering principals to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
Must demonstrate attention detail.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
Direction Received :
Acts as a lead engineer on projects working directly with the Project Manager.
May assist Project Manager with Assistant Project Management responsibilities.
Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering, preferably civil engineering, is required.
Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE).
Preferred experience with PLS-TOWERCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering).
PE preferred.
Competency:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS SuiteCommunication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical reports and procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports and other business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other staff members.
Mathematical Skills:
Required mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practiced (e.
g.
, engineering calculations, design, etc.
)Computer Skills:
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of basic computer systems and software packages.
Must be willing to learn software that is specific to Power Delivery Industry.
Travel Requirements:
Must be able to travel to GAI and client office locations as needed.
Travel requirement is estimated at up to 10%.
